Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) — one of the 18 zonal railways of Indian Railways, headquartered at Maligaon, Guwahati (Assam) — has officially released the Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 under Advertisement No. NFR/NAPS/ACT APP./2026 for a massive 6,777 Act Apprentice vacancies across its workshops, divisions, and units. This is the largest railway apprentice notification so far in 2026.

This is an exceptional opportunity for ITI-passed candidates and 12th Science students of Northeast India and beyond to train at one of India’s most strategically important railway zones — covering Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Selection Process – NFR Apprentice 2026

  1. Merit List Preparation:
    • For ITI candidates (Path A): Merit = Average of 10th class marks % + ITI marks %
    • For 12th PCB candidates (Path B): Merit = Average of 10th class marks % + 12th PCB marks %
    • No written exam — merit is entirely based on academic marks
  2. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates called with all original documents
  3. Medical Fitness Examination: Standard Railway medical fitness check

  3. Generate Registration Credentials – Enter basic details to generate your unique Registration Number and login credentials
  4. Login & Fill Application Form – Login with your credentials. Fill:
    • Personal details (name, DOB, gender, category, address)
    • Qualification details (10th marks, board; ITI trade, marks, NCVT/SCVT; or 12th PCB marks)
    • Division and trade preference (choose carefully — influences allotment)
    • Contact details (mobile, email)
  5. Upload Documents:
    • 10th class marksheet
    • ITI certificate and marksheet (NCVT/SCVT)
