  • Maximum Age: 42 Years (For General/UR candidates)
  • Age Relaxation: The upper age ceiling is relaxed by 5 years for SEBC, SC, ST, and all categories of Female candidates (extending their limit up to 47 years). PwD category candidates receive a 10-year direct extension.

Post-Wise Technical Educational Qualifications

  • Junior Engineer (Civil): Diploma in Civil Engineering from an institution recognized by the State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training (SCTE&VT), Odisha, or an equivalent qualification. Candidates must be computer literate.
  • Architectural Assistant: Diploma in Architectural Assistantship from an AICTE-approved institution.
  • Junior Draughtsman (Civil): HSC (Class 10th) with National Trade Certificate (NTC) in Draughtsman (Civil) from an NCVT-affiliated institution, along with basic knowledge in Computer Applications and AutoCAD.
  • Tracer (State Cadre Field): HSC or equivalent + NTC in Draughtsman (Civil) + basic Computer Skill Certificate + AutoCAD Course Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Multimedia Staff (Cameraman, Sound Recordist, Video Editor, Photographer, Mechanic): Higher Secondary (+2 Pass) with a corresponding specialized Degree/Diploma in Cinematography, Sound Recording, Audio-Visual Production, or Electronics from a recognized institute.

FAQs – OSSC Combined Technical Service Exam 2026

Q1. Can a candidate from another state apply for the Junior Engineer positions?

Ans: Yes, provided they meet the language requirement. A candidate must be able to speak, read, and write Odia fluently and must have passed a language test in Odia at least at the Middle School or High School Certificate standard.

Q2. What is the penalty for incorrect responses in the OSSC CTSRE exam?

Ans: Both the Preliminary and Main written examinations enforce a strict negative marking penalty. For every incorrect option selected on the evaluation sheet, 0.25 marks (1/4th) will be deducted from your total score.

Q3. Is prior professional experience required to apply for these Group B & C posts?

Ans: No. Prior working experience is not mandatory for these positions. Freshers holding the required technical diplomas, ITI certificates, or vocational degrees are fully eligible to apply.
