UGC NET June 2026 Notification has been officially released today, April 29, 2026, by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This national-level examination determines the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ (JRF), ‘Assistant Professor’, and ‘Admission to PhD’ in Indian universities and colleges.
The online application window is open from April 29 to May 20, 2026. The examination will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple subjects from June 22 to June 30, 2026.

- JRF: Maximum 30 Years. (Relaxation of 5 years for Women, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD).
- Assistant Professor & PhD: No Upper Age Limit.

Educational Qualification
- Master’s Degree: Candidates must have a Master’s Degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Third Gender).
- Final Year Students: Candidates currently appearing for their Master’s degree can apply provisionally.
- 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree: Under new rules, candidates with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree (minimum 75% marks) are now eligible for JRF and PhD admission.
UGC NET Exam Pattern 2026
The exam consists of two papers, both containing objective-type, multiple-choice questions (MCQs), conducted in a single 3-hour session.

Selection Categories & Result
Based on the performance, candidates will qualify for one of the following three categories:
- Category 1: Eligible for JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD Admission.
- Category 2: Eligible for Assistant Professor and PhD Admission only.
- Category 3: Eligible for PhD Admission only.
For PhD admission, the NET score will have 70% weightage, and 30% weightage will be given to the interview performance at the respective university.

- Visit the official NTA UGC NET website: ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
- Registration: Click on “New Registration” and provide your basic details and email/mobile.
- Application Form: Log in and fill out the detailed form including educational data and choice of exam cities.
- Photo & Sign: Upload a scanned passport-size photograph (10kb–200kb) and signature (4kb–30kb).
- Fee Payment: Pay the application fee online through the integrated gateway.
- Final Submit: Save the Confirmation Page. Note: NTA does not require a hard copy of the form.
