Eligibility Criteria & Academic Qualifications

The eligibility conditions, API scores, and structural research benchmarks are mapped strictly in accordance with UGC Regulations 2018 and its subsequent amendments.

1. Assistant Professor

  • Minimum Qualification: Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
  • Mandatory Clearance: The candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
  • Exemption: Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the UGC Regulations (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.

2. Associate Professor

  • Minimum Qualification: A good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines.
  • Experience: A minimum of eight (8) years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of an Assistant Professor in a University, College, or Accredited Research Institution.
  • Research Output: A minimum of seven publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.

3. Professor

  • Minimum Qualification: An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, and actively engaged in research.
  • Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years of teaching experience in university/college as an Assistant/Associate/Professor, and/or research experience at an equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions.
  • Research Output: A minimum of ten research publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score as per UGC rules.

4. Age Limit

  • There is no specific upper age limit defined in the official UGC regulations for direct recruitment to faculty posts. Standard superannuation rules apply. Age relaxation guidelines for reserved categories match the active Government of India parameters.

Q1. Are female candidates or PwD applicants required to pay the ₹2,000 application fee?

Ans: No. All women candidates, along with SC, ST, and PwD applicants, are completely exempted from paying any application fee for this recruitment cycle.

Q2. Can a candidate who does not hold a Ph.D. apply for the Assistant Professor posts?

Ans: Yes. A candidate who has completed a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks and has cleared the UGC/CSIR NET (or SLET/SET) is fully eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor. However, a Ph.D. remains mandatory for the Associate Professor and Professor posts.
