Selection Process & Screening Framework

The selection architecture varies depending on the number of applications received by the commission for individual post configurations:

  1. Shortlisting Grid: Initial screening of candidates based on essential educational qualifications, academic aggregate percentages, and verified professional experience records.
  2. UPSC Recruitment Test (RT): If the volume of applications for a specific post (e.g., Drug Inspector or Assistant Engineer) is very high, UPSC will conduct an objective, multiple-choice Computer-Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) or a pen-and-paper offline exam to filter candidates.
  3. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called to the UPSC Dholpur House headquarters in New Delhi for a viva-voce round worth 100 Marks.
    • Minimum Qualifying Interview Marks: 50 Marks for UR/EWS, 45 Marks for OBC, and 40 Marks for SC/ST/PwBD.
  4. Document Verification (DV) & Medical Check: Final scrutiny of original degree certificates and medical wellness validations before corporate deployment allocation.

FAQs – UPSC Various Posts Recruitment 2026

Q1. What is the deadline to lock applications for the UPSC Advt 07/2026 drive?

Ans: The online portal stops accepting entries precisely at 06:00 PM on July 17, 2026. Candidates must note that unlike other portals that close at midnight, UPSC closes servers early in the evening.

Q2. Are fresh B.Pharm graduates eligible to apply for the 186 Drug Inspector posts?

Ans: Yes. The educational criteria require a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences. There is no mandatory work experience prescribed as an essential qualification for the Drug Inspector cadre under this notification, making freshers fully eligible.

Q3. Will there be a written exam or directly an interview phase for the selections?

Ans: Under standard rules, shortlisting happens via applications followed by an interview. However, given the high number of applicants for fields like Drug Inspector, UPSC will most likely conduct an objective pen-and-paper or computer-based Recruitment Test (RT) prior to the personal interview stage.

Q4. Can a candidate apply for more than one post listed in Advertisement 07/2026?

Ans: Yes, but you must submit separate Online Recruitment Applications (ORA) for each post designation along with the corresponding fee payment token (if applicable) for each choice.

Q5. Is the OTR modification window applicable to this direct recruitment framework?

Ans: Yes. Candidates can adjust or correct errors in their One-Time Registration (OTR) profile within the timeline specified under commission guidelines by logging into their core master account setup.
